Artemis Rising is a choreographic work by Sarah Foster-Sproull created for the Royal New Zealand Ballet (RNZB). Premiering in 2019 as part of the RNZB’s Choreographic Series, this piece is a celebration in honor of retiring principal dancer Abigail Boyle. The work is inspired by the Greek goddess Artemis, symbolizing qualities of wildness, the hunt, and the wilderness, as well as a powerful connection to femininity and nature. Through Artemis Rising, Foster-Sproull explores themes of strength, femininity, and the relationship between the individual and the natural world
